Personality:

Alisaie is, to a word, direct. Bold, forward, and without hesitation, she's quick to assess and chase after her goals, and heaven help whatever stands between her and her destination. Though she does possess a rational side that can be appealed to, in general she's quite headstrong, far more likely to beg forgiveness than ask permission. Her will is iron, and once she has made up her mind it's a near insurmountable task to change it.

But of course, like any reasonable sentient creature, Alisaie is a many layered thing. She is bold, yes, but she is also cynical, kind, strong, loyal, isolated, funny, emotional, reckless. In stark contrast to her diplomatic twin brother, Alphinaud, Alisaie is his foil in every way, alike and yet apart from him, two halves of one whole.

To say that she is influenced by him would be a grand understatement. He is her twin, they spent their lives growing together, chasing and challenging one another, so it's only natural that much of her personality has been shaped and sculpted by her close growth beside him. Of course, considering this closeness, Alphinaud is incredibly important to her, and while Alisaie does not consider her loved ones many, those she does count among them she is fiercely loyal to. Not only Alphinaud, but also her grandfather, Louisoix, who left his family behind in order to understand, heal, and protect a faroff land wholly unfamiliar to her.

Given her emotional, fiercely forward thinking proclivities, for a very long time Alisaie viewed this as a betrayal. For all she is strong and skilled, she is surprisingly sensitive, easily hurt, and quick to snap in self-defense. It took some time for her to come to terms with this, Alisaie is stubborn in all ways, and sometimes it is difficult even for she herself to convince herself of things; it took her quite a long time to find her resolve, her own reason for fighting, for living, for defending the realm, though she did find it, and on her own. In all things, it sometimes takes her some time to come around.

Being one half of a set of twins has also had significant impact on her growth and development. It was all but impossible for others to not compare them, for them to compare themselves, and Alisaie certainly held herself to a certain standard in order to keep up with him. Despite her fierce initiative and drive, and the fact that they were both young prodigies, Alisaie always lagged slightly behind her brother in academia and ability, and her constant, unerring desire to catch up and match him surely influenced her. She is not necessarily insecure, but it was certainly frustrating, and without the same assurance that Alphinaud possessed, Alisaie found herself twisting in the wind quite often, never entirely knowing what step forward to take on which path. Without her brother's gift for speech, and her own penchant for speaking her mind thoughtless of consequences, she was not terribly popular among her peers, and she was often encouraged by peer and family alike to suppress herself and curb her candor. It was unbecoming, after all, for a Leveilleur, and an esteemed student of the Studium.

Louisoix, however, nurtured it, loved her for who she was, as she was, and for that love and support Alisaie was wholly grateful, and remained true to who she was, bluntness and all. She does not feel required to censor herself for anyone or anything.

This somewhat 'isolated in a crowd' lifestyle led her to be a bit cynical and scathing, with a somewhat jaded world outlook. It took quite a long time for Eorzea to grow on her, for she has no patience for blatant pettiness or the pointlessly convoluted contrariness of politics. This does not mean, however, that she is incapable of sympathy. In fact, she has rather a big heart, too big, for her recklessness, really, and though she tends to show her affection through prodding and teasing, she is a very kind girl, quick to help those in need. While she is quite rash, and tends to play fast and loose, she is not beyond reason, even if, at times, a steady hand is needed to rein her in. She is fiercely protective of the small circle of people she holds dear, and tends to lean to carelessness if they are threatened, most especially when her twin brother is concerned. Given this nature to rush forward, she's been injured and struck down quite a few times, but she has never stayed down, and is quick to jump back to work. More than once Alphinaud and others have had to gently force her to convalesce without hastening off too soon.

So in short, Alisaie is a fierce and formidable young girl, steadfast and loyal, daring and adventurous, doggedly stubborn, sensitive, and kind. She may very well be small in stature, but she is an absolute force to be reckoned with.

Alisaie is a strong and skilled Red Mage, a sort of jack-of-all-trades class that affords access to magical spells of both white and black variety that allow her to build mana, which she can then spend on powerful melee abilities executed with her rapier. Reason: One of Alisaie's greatest skills and fondest pasttimes is swimming, and she's quite good at it, has an attachment to the water that comes up time and again, so merrow seems to suit her much better than most of the other monster types! She also fits that cute/pretty but will also eat your face off rhetoric..

Though she is able to work with a team, her swift decisiveness allows her to work very well alone as well, and she does not spend a lot of time hemming and hawing over outcomes or alternate paths - Alisaie is a woman of action.

Emotional. Given how cold she can sometimes seem on the surface, and how long it has taken her in the past to warm up to new people, it might be surprising to learn that Alisaie is an incredibly emotional young woman, though it usually makes itself evident very clearly once you're around her for more than a handful of moments. She's quick to anger, quick to become frustrated, or worried, joyful or solemn. Wearing her heart on her sleeve makes her very sensitive to change and quite easy to hurt, and this often results in her short temper and quick action. Alisaie makes no attempt to hide how she is feeling about anything or anyone in any given situation, and she has very little filter when speaking with others, preferring open honesty at all times, reacting quickly and earnestly according to her heart. You can always count on her to rely on her feelings far more than her thoughts, and while this is not always the case, and she can control herself well, when people or things she is attached to are involved, she grows heated very quickly.

Loyal. Perhaps it is because she is so emotional and tender-hearted, but Alisaie is very empathetic to the people around her, and this often manifests in fierce loyalty. Be it loyalty to a specific person, a group of people or nation, or even an idea, Alisaie sticks to her guns quite fiercely, and stands in steadfast defense of her ideals and her people. This can often make her quite stubborn, but there is no better friend you could hope to have your back, and she would quite readily lay down her life to most any cause she believes in, or to protect those that she loves. Unfortunately, this also means that she does not take loss very well, and losing the people she cares about comes as a very heavy blow for her, and while she is forward and active enough that it does not often keep her down physically, her emotional wounds tend to linger and impact things like her self-worth and security very easily. Still, she is not easily swayed from the sides of those she has chosen to defend, and she will not apologize for anything she might say or do to protect what is important to her.

Reckless. Given all of the above, it should come as no surprise that Alisaie is an incredibly reckless individual. As she is both very bold and very emotional, this mixture often results in disaster. Sometimes it works out in her favor, for taking quick action without much forethought is often the course that is needed, but just as often it can put her in a dangerous place. More than once Alisaie has been gravely injured and nearly lost her life, yet she continues to operate this way, heedless to her own sense of self-preservation when push comes to shove. Getting the job done is what is most important, and hotheaded as she is often does not look both ways when crossing the street, so to speak.

Cynical. For her age, Alisaie has relatively lost quite a lot, mostly people that she cares for, and while her big heart is enough to keep her from becoming too jaded to the point of villainy or spite, she has quite a wide cynical streak. Her heart is earnest in its noble desires, but her mind can be less so, and while she has grown away from this trait a bit, she still quite often can't help but be disgusted by people, and what they are capable of. For a very long time she could not understand why her grandfather left her behind to come to the aid of a nation she saw as petty and full of pointless in-fighting, and while she has come to understand why he loves it so, and also come to share that love, she still has a difficult time grappling with people, and how self-serving they can be as a whole.

Kind. Alisaie is an incredibly warm-hearted, loving person. She might be very forward and even a little aggressive in her approaches, but almost everything she does comes from a place of love - love for her family and friends, love for the world as a whole, and a ferocious need to protect it all. She is neither selfish nor avaricious, and she would give someone the shirt off of her back if they were in need, very quickly becoming absorbed in the small, personal stories of other people. Her chilly, fierce exterior melts quite easily once you get to know her, and it is because of her big, sensitive heart that she has developed these walls to begin with, and why she does not make friends quite so easily as others might. She has a lot of love to give, and she will give it to the point that she has nothing left for herself more often than not, and she is often very quick to jump to the aid or defense of people that she does not know at all, if they are in trouble. Once you count her among your friends, there is little she won't do to keep you safe and happy.




Where and how did your character enter the Hedge? Alisaie arrived at the hedge under completely inauspicious circumstances. She's been active around the Crystarium for some time after the events of patch 5.2, and it was during a completely inane errand that she heard the voice of a child crying in the distance and, under the worried assumption that they might be in trouble, followed the sound out of the Crystarium and into Lakeland's forests beyond. From here, of course, she entered the hedge.

Skillsets: Even without her magic, Alisaie is adept with a blade, and has been using a rapier for some time. She's spent a lot of time traveling and fighting, so she is comfortable with conflict. As an elezen she also has keen hearing and eyesight. Also, she's a very strong swimmer, and was able to breathe underwater thanks to a specific blessing, though with the depowering I assume she will lose that! Even still she swims like a fish, and loves the water. Despite her wild nature she is also an academic child prodigy, so she's fiercely intelligent when she applies herself, and she's a big nerd that loves to read.
