[ He still doesn't like it, that it came to that at all, but...she's right, too. Whether they liked out it unfolded or not, now they are here, together, touching and speaking and reclaiming who they are as a couple, instead of spending yet another agonizing night apart. Now they can heal. They can work on what they've struggled with, and they can do it while supporting one another.

After another pull of his tea, he sets it down on the coffee table, but only so he can nestle closer to her, winding both arms around her middle now, and hooking his chin over her shoulder. Did she miss his octopus arms in addition to his cheesy lines? ]

...Yeah. All's well that ends well. But y'know, we've got a lot of cuddling to catch up on now...lots of hand-holding...lots of kisses...

[ He's joking. Mostly. But now that the walls are down between them again, he won't be refraining from physical contact, to say the least. ]

[ it's almost.. strange how easy this feels now, how loving him properly again has come back to her like the flip of a switch. mere hours ago she would have shied from his kiss, flinched from his touch, had nothing to give but tense and awkward silence in response to his sweet words.

but now.. now it feels as natural as breathing, like it had once before, a long year ago. her body had remembered, and her heard, but her mind had struggled - now it, too, remembers how to love him, how to allow herself nearness and affection and complete trust. his arms wind around her like an octopus, and she relaxes into them, all of her weight slumping effortlessly against him, though both hands still remain cradling her mug. she isn't ready to relinquish it, even for cuddles.

in fact, she takes another sip. ]

It sounds like you're simply looking for an excuse to be spoiled.

[ Ah, she's caught on to his master plan..but honestly, he's already feeling spoiled enough. Despite how intense their encounter on the beach had been, he would have understood if she needed some distance afterwards, to put the pieces of her heart in order again after they had yelled and kissed and touched. It feels like a dream, to be holding her like this, when not so long ago, even a hand on her shoulder seemed like asking too much. But it isn't a dream, and she's letting him as close as she once did, and he won't question it.

Even if her many tails don't make cuddling as easy as usual...at least they're soft and cuddly too. ]

Nah, I won't charge interest, promise. [ A beat. ] Seriously, though, if any of this isn't okay...

[ He figures it is, or she wouldn't be relaxing against him like this, but still, he wants to make it perfectly clear that she doesn't owe him anything. It's only a joke. ]

[ alisaie turns her head enough to glance at him over her shoulder, her expression sharp. he should know well by now that she would most certainly tell him if this was not okay - she's spent the last several weeks telling him as much, after all.

but she understands what he is saying, and why he is saying it, even if it makes her roll his eyes. ]

You needn't worry. You know that.

[ she says firmly, but not ungently. alisaie would most certainly make her feelings known if this were in any way uncomfortable, he hardly need worry that she is simply humoring him. she wants this. needs it. and if he needs a little convincing, she soon nudges her nose affectionately to his jaw. ]

[ Yeah, he knows right away what a look like that means, and his mouth thins — but it's reassuring in its own way, too. Alisaie isn't the kind of person to lead someone along, or to do something simply for his comfort at the cost of her own. It's just such a departure from the way things have been these last few weeks.

But now, things are different. They aren't back to the way they were before, because Alisaie isn't the person she was then. But she has at last remembered how to love him and show it without fear. She butts her nose along his jaw, and his eyes flutter closed, exhaling a long, low breath through his nose. ]

I sure do know that.

[ He lets a moment pass in peaceful silence before speaking up again. It's been so long since he's found comfort in silence between them. ]

Wanna just...stay like this for awhile?

[ it's good enough, and alisaie soon smiles, her lips curving against his cheek. he needs the reassurance, and she understands that - gods know he deserves it, for being so patient with her, but she can only hope that her continued presence and warmth will be all that he needs to be convinced.

another sip of tea, and alisaie chuckles softly, curling her legs up to her chest and leaning further back against him, her tails wriggling to make room, tickling his chin. ]

Yes, I should say I very much.. wanna.

[ He chuckles softly at the feel of her furry tails brushing her chin — they sure are cute on her, but he's soooort of glad they aren't an all-the-time thing. Comfy as he is right now, they are a little hot...

But he's willing to endure a little extra heat to stay curled around her like this. Hooking his chin over her shoulder as she settles against him. It's so nice just to appreciate this, this nearness, this intimacy, how perfect she fits against him, like she was always meant to be there. At last, he can let all the love and affection pour out of his heart without being afraid, without worrying he's taken a step too far.

And then he just...lets the moment stretch on. He doesn't say anything. He only holds her, and breathes, his eyes heavily lidded, as they settle back into their them-ness that they know so very, very well. ]
